FY2024-25:SEW Donates working models to Sri Venkat. Engg College (SVCE)

In view of providing knowledge and practical experience to students on latest technologies in Engineering, SEW donated working models of MOVITRAC®, MOVIDRIVE®, MOVIFIT® and design curriculum for two modules, i.e. Basic Drive Engineering and Advance Drive Engineering, These models are suitable for 3rd, 4th & 5th semester Mechanical engineering students of SVCE college, Tamilnadu

FY 2024-25:SEW Supports Light House Community Foundation ,Pune

This project is taken-up under the Social & Emotional Learning- Digital platform called Jeevan-Shikshan & upgradation of the "We-connect" platform to scale the project.

Objectives:

Providing education on digital literacy

Sustainable livelihood to the members of marginalised society.

SEW has contributed financial help for the above projects in the year 2024, as a CSR initiative

FY-2024-25:SEW Stand by the side of Vanarai at Pune

Project focuses to improve infrastructure at educational Institution Shri Padmavati Vidhya Mandir, Urse, Pune, providing direct benefit to 280 students of Urse & nearby villages.

FY 2024-25 :SEW Supports Akhil Bharatiya Gramin Uthan Samiti (ABGUS), Alwar

SEW came forward with financial support to set up an Anganwadi centre at Village-Maseet, Tehsil Tijara, Distt. Alwar, Rajasthan.

This project focuses on early childhood care & development under “The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)” an initiative of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt of India.

FY 2024-25: SEW join hands with Shroff Foundation Trust at Vadodara

To provide a better learning platform for students while providing various facilities to encourage them in enhancing their productivity and efficiency

Objectives:

Experiential Learning by setting up lab: To help students apply theoretical concepts in real-world projects and experiments. Through hands-on activities, they will gain a deeper understanding of electronics, robotics, and mechatronics principles.

Skill Development: To develop practical skills in circuit design, soldering, programming microcontrollers, and operating robotic systems which are highly useful for Industries such as automation, manufacturing, and engineering.

SEW has contributed financial help for the below projects as a CSR initiative in the year 2024.

Vocational training implemented to get improved employability.

Upgraded the electrical lab by providing a solar training kit, ceiling fan coil rewinding machine, single spindle CNC winding machine and also upgraded the sewing lab.

Set up a paint shop to train painters.

Set up 500 litres RO water treatment plant,

Donated C-30 Liugong forklift for forklift driver’s training,

Provided e-rickshaw for driver training

Set up an EV charging station at VIVEC Vocational Training Centre at Paldi, Vadodara.

FY 2023-24:SEW continues partnership with “CHILD” Home at Chennai

In 2022 SEW had supported “CHILD” a care centre at Chennai for running their centre and constructing a new training centre on the land adjacent to their existing premises.

In 2023 SEW further came forward to support setting up IT infrastructure & peripherals in the newly set up vocational training centre by CHILD. This training centre provided various trainings and employability of marginalised youth from the Tiruvallur and Chennai districts.

FY 2023-24: SEW join hands with Vanarai , for development at Raypur,Vadodara

To build a new Public Health Centre at village Raypura in district Vadodara, with a total build-up area of approx. 5000 Square feet. This PHC will cater to a population of approx. 31,000 individuals across 8 villages in Gujarat with an estimated OPD visits of over 1000 Per Month

Objectives

• To create strong health care infrastructure for rural communities

• To have a centralized PHC for multiple villages in the vicinity

• Access to Better Medical Facilities through new PHC

FY 2022-23 :SEW join hands with Vanrai , NGO at Vadodara

SEW conducted vaccination camp for employees at Vadodara factory through the nearest PHC ,Por. During the camp the health officer in-charge had put forth their requests to support the infrastructure development of the health centre. Hence after detailed study by SEW team, we have engaged our supporting NGO – Vanrai to take it further for implementation .

In April 2022 this project was completed and inaugurated on 19-04-2022 in presence of MLA and other responsible authorities with the following developments at the PHC.

FY 2022-23: SEW Partners with Kashtakari Panchayat at Pune

Kashtakari Panchayat is a public charitable trust registered under The Bombay Public trust Act 1950 focussing on activities of waste collection centre – using reduce, recycle, reuse -sustainability concept.

They are providing support to waste-pickers and their families via project named” Expansion of SWaCH’s Co-op V-Collect Centre & Program” the key objectives of this program are

To strengthen outreach capacity of V collect program

Expansion of infrastructure for 3R Centre

Creating citizen awareness

Generating livelihood options for waste pickers

Sales of used material to waste pickers family at very economical rates

Clean city

Ensuring reuse and recycling of waste household materials

SEW has contributed financial help for this program for the whole year of 2022 as a CSR initiative.

FY 2021-22 : SEW Partners with the Lighthouse Communities Foundation

The focus of the partnership is on imparting Social and Emotional Learning Skills to children from low income communities who are a part of 10 PMC Primary schools, selected to be part of the Models of Excellence project. The children have been hit hard by the prolonged school closure and the psychological effects of the pandemic. In this context, Social and Emotional Learning is of prime importance for children. The program is delivered by the teachers in the schools, thus enhancing their own Social and Emotional Learning skills.

Lighthouse Communities Foundation has designed a separate curriculum for Social and Emotional Learning, which was imparted to children through online sessions as well as Whatsapp based exercises during school closure. The schools have been reopened in February 2022 and the program was implemented by the teachers in the 10 Primary schools for 2 months, till the academic year ended. The Social and Emotional Learning program enabled teachers to help children adjust to school after a gap of almost 2 years. The curriculum activities help children to understand themselves and their emotions, to spark their creativity and imagination, to feel comfortable in the classroom and to build their confidence.

SEW has supported the Models of Excellence in Education Social Emotional Learning program.

Under this program extra classes were being conducted for the children which included children from all age groups. Even 6th and 7th standard children who were far behind their grade appropriate level have benefited with this. Over all 42 sessions were completed in different schools, which benefited 450 students in this programme.

SEW has come forward and took up financial support for this MoE program.

FY 2021-22 : SEW ‘s continued partnership with “CHILD” home at Chennai

In continued partnership with “Child” Home, SEW has come forward to support the construction of a vocational training centre for underprivileged children and women. The key objectives of this training centre are :

Mullti-functions - One space - Many purposes

A rentable hall as an additional income

Space adaptable to changing demands

Activities - Emerging fields & opportunities

Maximise natural lighting & ventilation to ensure low operating cost

With this training centre ,”CHILD” home is planning to train children and women with various trainings like computer skills, tailoring and other skill oriented courses.

SEW has contributed financial help for the construction of this centre, which is expected to get completed by December ‘2022.

FY 2020-21 : SEW partners with “CHILD” home at Chennai

“CHILD” home started as a modest shelter and rehabilitation provider for HIV affected children in the year 2005 in a rented place. After which they constructed a permanent residence with the help of donors and well-wishers in 2013.

CHILD Home had more than 20 children within the premises, they were in need of a 10-12 seater vehicle to commute the children from one place to another. Given that the children go to different schools, it was very difficult to commute them to & forth and the transportation cost was high.

The vehicle can also be used for helping the children travel during educational tour, visit the hospital, etc., Availability of a vehicle within their premises saved them a lot of expenditure and ensured safe travel to the children.

SEW Eurodrive has contributed funds and fulfilled this requirement of vehicle.

FY 2020-21 : SEW partners with Vanrai – NGO for water project at Varnoli

A village Moti Varnoli, TAL-Desar which is around 70 km from Vadodara, Gujarat. It was identified with water scarcity.

SEW has partnered with Vanrai in Vadodara region and contributed entire fund for making check dam reservoir, details are as below.

Water reservoir resulting in improvement of ground water and TDS level.

Clean water storage tank at “ Panchayat” area, because the existing water tank was in damage condition and unsafe structure .

RO plant having coin based ATM to collect water from Panchayat building. Self-sustaining model to ensure maintenance .

The project was completed and inaugurated in October 2021 with the following benefits to the village.

Constructed an overhead water storage tank with capacity of 50000 liters

RO plant under self-sustaining model

Check dam to facilitate irrigation and recharge of ground water.

FY 2019-20:SEW partners with Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science

SEW-EURODRIVE has recently partnered with Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, Chennai. We have set up an electronics products demonstration kit to enhance technical education of students. We have also designed and rolled out a two semester elective program which will help students to learn the latest products and applications in mechatronics. This will increase the employability of graduates. As part of this we have already installed our MoviTrac, MoviDrive and MoviFit training kits.

The following activities are ongoing/planned:

- To train the HITS professors on operating the training kit and training models

- To create demo programs for operating the rotary table and four axes gantry models.

FY 2019-20: SEW partners with Sevathirth, Vadodara

Sevathirth is an employment / self-employment training, vocational rehabilitation and research Centre for all categorized disabled persons that include those suffering from or cured of leprosy. SEW-EURODRIVE partners with the NGO, which has been able to settle over 900 leprosy affected and 2,500 disabled, helping them get treated, and imparting education and skill development training.

• Training includes latest IT courses like Electric Relay Assembly, Computer and Braille Computer Education, employment / self-employment training for visually impaired, etc.

• Employment training program for disabled in association with Bangalore-based Pankh, providing 100% job placements in 60 days.

• Training in making commodities for homes, schools and offices, such as incense sticks, candles, washing powder, notebooks, etc.

FY 2018-19:SEW partners with Pune City connect

SEW-EURODRIVE has recently partnered with Pune City Connect (PCC) in its flagship Lighthouse Project, a sustainable livelihood program for urban disadvantaged youth. As of now, six Lighthouses operate in the wards of Aundh, Yerawada, Hadapsar, Warje, Bhavani Peth and Bibwewadi. An important requirement of this project is automation in data management. SEW helps with this, catering to five different areas.

• Tracking the progress of the Lighthouse / digital empowerment students.

• Enabling evidence-based decision making to ensure program effectiveness.

• Providing greater visibility with respect to program milestones, for better review at each stage of a program.

• Capturing legacy data from the commencement of the program. This systematic documentation will provide direction to future interventions of a similar kind.

• In a multi-stakeholder system, the systematic data management using a technology platform is significant.

FY 2018-19:SEW partners with Bhumi, Chennai

Bhumi is an NGO that works to provide youth a platform that bridges the gap between educated and uneducated. It offers comprehensive educational support to over 20,000 children across India. SEW-EURODRIVE is at present working with Bhumi on the implementation of their program at two schools in Chennai. This project benefits over 320 children, 30 teachers and two school leaders.

• Providing language and STEM education, life-skills support, scholarships for higher education and help in development of these schools.

• Helping school leaders with a development plan that helps realize the school’s vision.

• Supporting teachers by coaching them on lesson planning, effective pedagogical practices and effective measures of learning.

• Providing leadership platforms to students to help them tap their potential to the fullest.

FY 2016-17: An update from ongoing partnership with Akshara, Pune

SEW-EURODRIVE has partnered with Mahindra United World College and their Outreach program Akshara to set up and run, since June 2016, an e-learning centre at Asade Village, Mulshi Taluka Gram Panchayat School, 40 km from Pune. Akshara works closely with over 2,000 residents in about six villages in Mulshi Taluka, helping rural communities here discover a better future through specific initiatives regarding digital literacy.

• Classes for school and college students, women entrepreneurs and villagers.

• Theoretical and practical training aimed at employability.

• Basics of MS-Office, Introduction to MS-Word, PowerPoint, Effects and Applications of Paint.

• Keyboard typing course and Basics of MS-Excel.

• Certificate distribution and motivation for more people to join

FY 2015-16 : E-learning centre launched at Asade village, outside Pune

It is our pleasure to announce that an "E-Learning Centre" sponsored by SEW India was inaugurated on 3rd March, 2016 at Asade, Village, Taluka Mulshi Gram Panchayat school around 40 kms from Pune as a part of our first structured CSR initiative. This was a joint project between SEW Eurodrive India and Mahindra United World College and their NGO wing Akshara. Akshara works closely with a population of 2000 spread over 6 villages in Mulshi Taluka on a range of initiatives to empower these rural communities to build a better future.

This particular project was selected after a detailed need assessment study done jointly with the village community and is expected to benefit all segments of the community including students, teachers, women entrepreneurs from the village and farmers. The various e-learning modules are being developed and taught by the Akshara team keeping in mind the specific needs of each of these segments and will be rolled out in a phased manner.

Our corporate vision for CSR is to identify and partner with organisations with a proven track record, who are working to benefit the communities that we are a part of i.e in Pune, Baroda and Chennai. Our main focus will be projects in the areas of skill development, learning and training, as these have the best synergies with our brand.

This e-learning centre is a small step in addressing the digital divide between urban and rural India and a significant one in demonstrating SEW's on-going commitment to being a socially responsible organisation.

Evening at an old age home and Donation to `Udavum Karangal’

At the initiative of our employees, we at SEW India have taken some small initiatives to give back something to the communities in which our two assembly plants are located.

In Baroda we have “Vanaprasthashram” old age home started with a sole objective or providing home for old age people – Organizing annual musical concert of songs chosen by the occupants to make one happy evening for them.

In Chennai we have “Udavum Karangal” NGO started in 1983 with a sole objective of serving people in need – Donated a vehicle for commuting occupants for medical treatment.

SEW team from Chennai plant took one more step which will help to impart computer skills related education to NGO Udavum Karangal, Chennai destitute children by donating two desktops in 2015.
